February 2008 - Riks Team Rider Ben Harwood Receives Extra Support!
Ben Harwood and his family have been associated with Riks for sometime now, and a part of our team since Sept 06 (see here). After a terrific competitive season in which Ben won the 2007 junior freestyle title, we were keen to see how we could support him further to ensure his progression remained as rapid as possible. It would be superb to see him going on to the international stage in the next few years to join other UK sailors like Robby Swift and Phil Horrocks. Our belief in Ben, who turns 17 later this year, has been shared by the newly formed Pryde Group UK who have along with us been able to offer him full equipment support allowing him to focus his own finances on training and competing through the coming year. Ben had a few words to say...
'I’m super stoked to be working with Riks and PGUK, I worked hard last year and it looks like it has paid off. Using the best kit and to be supported by such fantastic people, I’m going to really do my best and put the hammer down! I'll be reporting into Rik as often as possible to keep you all up-to-date with how Ii am going. Dad has a new camera so i'm hoping to get some video action soon!'
We'd like to wish Ben all the best for the coming season and look forward to hearing how everything goes.
